By sponsoring a child you commit yourself to pay a fixed amount for the selected payment frequency (monthly/3 times per year/annually). Currently the cost for sponsoring a child is 50 USD per month. An additional 5% will be added to cover admin costs. By that you are sure that your sponsor amount of 50USD per month is used directly for your child. You can select to pay in any of the following currencies: USD/EUR/SEK/AUD. If you select another currency than USD, the amount will be converted and fixed in the selected currency.
For a school sponsorship you can select by yourself the level of sponsoring that fits your wallet. No additional fee is added to cover admin costs. Instead around 95% of your donation will be used on ground in Uganda for running the school.
You can pay by credit or debit card online (VISA or MasterCard). Hope Uganda is not storing any of your card details since that is kept by our payment service provider who is certified according to the highest level of the PCI standard, which requires compliance with more than 200 security controls. The sponsorship of a child has no defined period of time. You can at any time stop your sponsorship. We would of course like to see a transformation of your sponsored child from one level to another, and hopefully see him or her graduating from the highest level of education in the future. If you want to support your child on a higher level of education, the cost could be increased as local fee for education increased.
A school sponsorship has no defined period of time and will continue as long as you are willing to support our work.

As in everything an administrative cost is associated with receiving and transferring money as well as making sure the foundation meets all the legislative demands. We do our best to minimize the amount and we strive to be transparent in our work, therefore you see the administrative cost specified on your sponsorship of a child (currently it is an additional 5%). For a general school donation our aim is to transfer 95% of the money to the local project.
Currently we support one project managed by the local organization Hope Uganda Projects, based in Uganda. Hope Preparatory School is located in Kabale town, South-Western Uganda.
It is not easy to choose but we consider different life situations like children being homeless, orphan or needy. We want to help as many as we can but due to the fact that we have limited means, we have to look at the above life situations. The decision is based on our local partner organization’s analysis of the child’s life situation and the kind of support available for a child.
Yes, Hope Uganda is a Swedish registered non-profit organization. The registered name is Insamlingsstiftelsen Hope Uganda. The supported organization in Uganda, Hope Uganda Projects, is a Ugandan registered organization.
Hope Uganda Projects use the Ministry of Education’s Guidance for Schools in Uganda. It means we are sure our children have the level of knowledge that are expected every year. Our supported school has a higher standard than many other schools!
No, it is not. The school is managed as a private school under a non-profit organization Hope Uganda Projects and are just financed by you as a private sponsor and donations through Hope Uganda.
The school has two different sections. A Pre section and a Primary section. In the Pre section there is Baby Class, Middle Class and Top Class and in the Primary section they have Primary 1 up to Primary 7.
Hope Uganda and our local partner organization aim is to educate the child as much as we can together with the sponsor parent. Secondary school needs an increased amount of sponsorship funds (currently 800 USD/year) from the sponsor. If the sponsor want to support up to University level, the amount of sponsorship will here be changed again depending on what field the student want to study.
Most of the children stay at school. There is a Boy section and a Girl section where they sleep. The Boarding children are there because of different circumstances e.g. orphans, neglected, parents too needy, parents/care takers too far away.
There are as well some children that come in the morning and leave in the afternoon to sleep at home, with their parents or care takers.
We send different updates about your child via email. You will receive letters (3 times a year), school reports (3 times a year), photos (3 times a year) and general newsletter from Hope Uganda regularly. You can also follow our work on social media.
If you want to send or replay a letter from your sponsored child, you will receive reply from the child as soon as possible.
